Health and Safety is a priority at Skin by Lovely. For your well-being and to avoid complications please review our pre and post-care policies in detail.

We cannot treat you if you are pregnant, nursing, recent (within 2 weeks) or active infection, or during an autoimmune condition flare-up.

**Please get clearance from your physician if you have a history of autoimmune, neurological or psychological disorders

If any of the following events are applicable, please call us to reschedule your appointment

Major dental work within 2 weeks of treatment.
History of keloid scarring
Facial surgeries/trauma within the last 8 weeks.
Active cold sore if treating the lip area.
Blood thinners taken within a week prior to treatment (blood thinners extend bruising severity & time)
Significant event (i.e. wedding, photo shoot) within two weeks after treatment as it may take up to 2 weeks for any side effects and swelling to subside.

**Please notify your provider if you are traveling within 48 hours of your treatment.

Sculptra Pre-Treatment Recommendations

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink at least 64 oz of water
Take 2000 mg of Vitamin C daily before your treatment. The earlier you start, the better!
Pre-treat with Arnica 3 days before you’re your treatment by dissolving 5 pellets under your tongue, 3 times a day.
Avoid Omega 3s, Turmeric, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic Supplements & Aspirin for 7 days prior.
Avoid alcoholic beverages for 4 days prior. *including red wine*
To lessen your chance of irritation & redness, pause the use of Retinol & exfoliating acids 3 days before your treatment & for 3 days after.

Sculptra Expectations

DON’T worry, the swelling will come down!
The treated area may look asymmetrical or uneven for up to 10 days following the procedure, this is normal.
The treated area may feel firm when touched, this is normal.
You will most likely be bruised and/or swollen following this procedure. Ice, antihistamines, Arnica, and Alastin INhance serum can be helpful. The swelling and bruising can last up to 10 days.
If you have a bruise and can’t afford downtime, request the Vbeam laser. Your Skin by Lovely office can help you find a local referral.
Results from Sculptra are usually not seen for about 3 months due to the collagen synthesis process. Trust the process!

Sculptra Post-Treatment Instructions

Keep your head above your heart for 4 hours
Massage treated areas (upward strokes) 5 times per day for 5 minutes for 5 days following the injections!! This is an important step to ensure best results from your Sculptra treatment and reduce possible treatment side effects.
You may apply a cool compress to the injection site(s) for up to 48 hours
Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure for 24 hours post-treatment
Do not exercise for 24 hours post-treatment
Avoid saunas for 6 hours post-treatment
If you are experiencing swelling: apply Arnica cream/gel to the area or take oral Arnica to speed up healing.
If you are experiencing bruising: apply Alastin INhance serum four times per day to the area or take Bromelain 200 mg to speed up healing.

When to contact us

Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Intense pain the treated area
Excessive swelling that is increasing with time
Skin color and/or temperature changes other than bruising (where skin is white, mottled, or hot/cold)
